Thanks for visiting my blog. After being a web developer and making many sites for my customers, it's time to start my own blog. This is a Drupal 6 site, with a variety of modules and using the Mix-and-Match theme. I have put in less than 20 lines of custom code, and that's only a few CSS entries to make items from different modules look more consistent.

Who is this guy?

I am a middle-aged family guy. I have three great kids and two dogs. My wife and I both work at home, and we home-school our kids. Because of this, we spend a vast amount of time together at home. In fact we spend most the time in our large living room, where the kids do school and the wife and I work. We refer to this room as "the cave".

For 21 years (enduring half-a-dozen aqusitions), I worked for one of the largest printing companies in the world. In September 2010, I was laid off after an acquisition. All my kids were born prematurely, and my youngest child was no exception. While at my wife's side, I was called and laid off by phone, and three days later my son was born prematurely in an emergency c-section.

After some time being very depressed and confused, I decided to go out on my own as a freelance developer. I have been using Drupal as a framework (yes, I consider Drupal a framework for web app development, as well as a CMS). My wife has taken on a home-based data processing job that takes 30 hours a week for her to help make ends meet.

So, having a new baby, running a new business, homeschooling two kids, and with my wife now working part-time, has all created a major challenge in time-management. Did I mention, my office is transforming into a room for Dan junior?

On this blog, I will be spewing my own half-baked opinion, as well as reviewing apps that either I have come to rely upon, or answer a need in using the iPad as the exclusive tool for being a web developer.
